Now, do not get me wrong. Going to college is important. Well, sometimes not always. The problem is how closed-minded we can become when we view a degree as the answer to financial freedom. If you're about to go to campus, or you're in college, or maybe you've been done with college for some time, you need the right mindset.

As a new graduate, I was thinking about two major things that were weighing on my mind.

• Can my Psychology Degree guarantee me instant employment?
• How can I gain financial independence and not depend on my parents?

Thinking about these two questions gave me a couple of sleepless nights. It got worse when it hit me that getting right after college is not as easy as I had imagined or even thought.

To be honest, the rate of unemployment keeps on rising every waking day. So, my hopes of getting that white-collar job went down the drain and disappeared into the sewers.

Things changed when I came across some amazing pieces of advice from Dan Lok on YouTube( I thank God for YouTube). One video that changed everything talked about high-income skills.

A skill that can make you a minimum of $10,000 per month, which is a healthy six-figure income. According to Dan Lok, a high-income skill is a skill that delivers value to the marketplace, that you can charge a lot of money to deliver.

Now, this completely blew my mind. It got me excited. I got that feeling that I often get when I am about to buy one of those yummy avocados that look like they went to a private school.

Finding a high-income skill that can make me money was exactly what I needed. One thing that I discovered is that there are several types of high-income skills. I decided to give one specific area (Digital Content Writing) a shot and I can confidently say that it worked perfectly for my partner and me.

A fixed schedule can be stressful. Before I decided to pursue content writing, I knew I was not cut out for all that 9-5 mumbo jumbo.

When you invest in tutorials every time you want to learn a high-income skill, you end up mastering it. People pay for value.

Once you have mastered a skill that gives your target clients value, you set a price tag for that service. There is no limitation to how high the price can be as long as what you offer is valuable.

You Decide Who Your Target Customers Are

With a high-income skill, you can choose to target who you sell your services and products to. You can niche down as much as you want or you can go for a larger group.

Earn Money Using a Variety of Skills

There are so many different types of high-income skills. You can choose the ones that interest you the most.

I do not mean to sound cliché but as the adage says, "If you do what you love, you will never have to work a day in your life."

Finding what you love is motivating. There are no limitations to the number of high-income skills you can learn at a time. As long as you focus on what you love. After all, that is what will come easy to you.
